THE MAGIC CLOCK

THE MAGIC CLOCK is an intriguing and enchanting film, which takes the cinema goer in a fairytale- and children’s world. In the movie, the Middle Ages are constantly combined with Modernity. Knights drive electrically to the ancestor’s grave, one picture point lines up after the other in association with a dream-play.
It is an appeal to the childish, the uncritical attribute in a human society. Not to separate from his work is the bizarre and zestfully composition of Paul Dessau. It is a model for a piece of music that supports the imagery tonal and corresponds to the visual.
In the framework plot, an old man and a girl are creating dolls. Every day at 12 o’clock when the clock rings, the dolls become alive and a fairy-tale world arises:
A king searches a bridegroom for his daughter and when the princess finally consents to a brave young man, a mean black knight frightens the young man away.

In addition, the black knight steals the flower that signifies the princess’ life. And from this moment on, all young men in his kingdom try to defeat the black knight and to reconquer the flower for the princess.
