Our range of services

When it comes to realizing your film music-related events, we are happy to advise you about all potential projects. In this field, we offer a wide range of services, from individual elements, such as research and the supply of film and score materials, to the complete production of film concerts and film music concerts.

Film Concerts

The centerpiece of our range of services consists of the film concert package, which includes both a print of the respective film and the associated music material. It also includes DVD/video material for rehearsals, PR material and clarification of the performance rights. Furthermore, we provide practical solutions for the technical realization of the cinema projection in your home as well as overseeing its on-site set-up. Depending on your needs, you can either request services on an individual basis or entrust us with the complete coordination of your project.

Film Music Concerts

The EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE develops its own concepts for film music concerts as well as working on commission. We conduct research on specific film music titles among music publishers worldwide or negotiate directly with the composers themselves. Furthermore, we organize the dramaturgical compilation of the titles and turn them into a program. You can, however, also order individual titles from the FILMPHILHARMONIC EDITION. In addition, we have built up our own film music archive and hold various titles that are not available for rent from publishers. To put the finishing touches on the program, we also prepare presentation texts interweaving exciting film and music anecdotes with film history.

PR and Press

As well as having compiled picture material for numerous projects for press and PR purposes, our team has also written dramaturgical texts to accompany the respective films, music, directors and composers. These texts and pictures are included in the package deals for your use.

Orchestra Association

Unique in this form in Europe, the EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE has set up an orchestra association that is dedicated to the film and music genre. At present, its members consist of Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Hamburger Symphoniker, Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, Staatskapelle Weimar and Ensemble Kontraste. With film music having been a firm fixture in their programme planning for years, all of the forenamed ensembles have gained extensive experience in this genre. These ensembles as well as others can be booked via the EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE.

Symphonic Score Production

Playing a crucial role in the dramaturgical composition, music significantly enhances the film’s effect. Film music in all different forms is also becoming increasingly popular; in contrast to other music segments, the soundtrack market is actually growing. Nevertheless, there are few institutions in Germany providing professional symphonic orchestras or ensembles for film music recordings. By focussing on the comprehensive organisation of high-quality film music recordings for contemporary cinema and television films, EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC is helping to fill this gap. The ensembles affiliated with our orchestra association are all available for this purpose.

Tour Management

Concert tours are complex projects that require pre-planning and optimum logistics. In the context of its tour management services, the EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE not only selects and books concert halls and draws up plans for lighting and stage technology but also guarantees smooth transport and travel logistics as well as looking after the orchestra. Furthermore, the EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE provides specific film technology for international productions, arranges for customs clearance and the logistics and oversees the on-site set-up.

Fascination Film Music

The EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE

Your Partner for film music in concert. Let the fascinating genre of "film and music" inspire you!

EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE, since its foundation in 2000 under the artistic direction of Frank Strobel, has consistently researched original music, new scorings and restored film prints. In this endeavor, the company receives creative assistance from numerous composers, conductors, editors, arrangers, dramatic advisors, musicologists and film scholars.

The result of this work is the FILMPHILHARMONIC EDITION, a catalogue including over 100 film concerts and film music concerts. Projects for the EDITION are selected according to artistic considerations and the feasibility of potential performances, which depends, among other factors, on the condition of the material, the instrumentation and the specific legal situation. Our collection of material relating to silent film projects and film music works is unique.

The EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE offers concert packages individually tailored to your needs with all of the following elements: film music scores with a clarification of performance rights; rehearsal and press material; the optional delivery of the necessary 35mm or digital technology specifically designed for use in theaters and concert houses; and experienced conductors along with an orchestra drawn from the EUROPEAN FILMPHILHARMONIC INSTITUTE’s own association. We are happy to advise you and or manage your event on location.

For many years now, we have also been working with media and cultural institutions such as ZDF/ARTE, Deutschlandradio Kultur and the Goethe-Institut. In their role as backers and promoters of film concerts as an art form, these partners have been vital in the realization of a large number of projects.
